When he went to the doctor for his one-month check-up, all was well. He weighed in at 24 pounds, and is 29.5 inches long. That puts him in the 75th percentile for height, and 60th for weight. I guess that is supposed to mean he is slowing down in growth?! HA! He's in 18 month clothes - which, besides being slightly long in the legs, fit him just fine. He's also working on his first tooth!
Right after Gray turned one, he started "officially" walking! He still falls down a lot, but he is doign pretty well and got the hang of it quickly. He's trying to figure out what he can and cannot "get into". Right now he's banned from the mudroom! ;)
Personality-wise, he's REALLY sweet. He loves to give kisses to mom, and when he wakes up he cuddles and "sighs". He's also stubborn as the DAY. IS. LONG!! He HATES to be told no, and will fight to make sure he gets his way. I am a little worried that his first word was "no-no" . . . Also, I am voting him "Child Most Likely to Take Apart a Small Appliance Before He's Five". Most likely victims include: the hairdryer, the vacuum, or the dishwasher.
He's doing great with talking - he can say "ma ma", "cheese", and "shoe". But his favorite phrase? - "DA DA"! And it's not necessarily in response to seeing his daddy either - he just walks around all day saying "DA da, DA da, DA da ..." He also likes to growl!
Wheels are still his toy of choice, and he has a LOT of them!! He pushes his cars around so much that he actually had me worried that he would NEVER learn to walk! He also enjoys the sandbox, and playing downstairs in the playroom, or in his room. He also likes to push around chairs or other things that slide, and his fine-motor skills are really great because he seeks out anything that twists and turns. He LOVES books, just like his sister did, and his favorite books are "How Does Baby Feel?", "Mr. Brown Can Moo", and "Me Want Pet".
Below are some photos from how we spent his first birthday. Later I will post some photos from his party!
Until next time . . .
